School News
We’ve had a busy and informative week. School Nurse K. Morgan visited the school on Monday to talk to the Year three children about hand washing and personal hygiene. On Thursday Mrs. Beesley a local practice nurse spoke to them about keeping healthy. The children participated in discussion and impressed both nurses with their knowledge. Mr Anthony and Miss Pryse accompanied Years five and six on a residential visit at Margam Discovery Centre. They are absolutely exhausted and recovering from their action packed week. They set traps for mammals (which were set free), went on a river walk, lit a camp fire, waded through a bog and used maps for orienteering. Pupils were an absolute pleasure to take. Staff and pupils alike enjoyed every single minute. We are currently recruiting for supply dinner ladies. If you are interested please contact the school. Finally, if your child is 3 years of age before 31st August 2011, and you would like them to join our school please contact Mrs. C. M. Dineen (Head teacher).

Some members of Christians Against Torture as individuals not as CAT members, wondered if we could start a rosary chain in the Parishes this Lent for victims of abortion. I would like some feed back on the idea from Briton Ferry, Neath and Glyn-Neath to the idea with some idea of the best time each day in Lent to say a Decade, or more, of the Rosary. This would be not only for the children but also for mothers who, either now or in the past, have felt pressurised into having an abortion and our prayers would also include those who mistakenly promote abortion. If you agree could we put a piece in a future newsletter and place timetables at the back of our churches?
St. Josephs Parish Guild is holding a cheese and wine evening in the hall on Monday February 7th at 19.30. This function replaces the wine and mince pie evening, cancelled in December due to the snow. Tickets sold for that occasion may be used for the new function.

Big Thank You
Thank you would be easy to say and yet I really want to express my great joy to you all for the support you have given to Eugene over the last year and at the Friday Rosary, then on Sunday the reception of Eugene into church, followed by the wonderful Requiem Mass. For me this demonstrates your love for him. God Bless you all particularly those who made the day possible and so successful. I am happy to be here with you all and hope to serve you as best I can. From Fr. Eddie Tributes to Fr. Eugene Fr. Eugene we will miss your smile, your caring ways, that brightened usurp, on our darkest days, when our school children attended mass. You were wonderful with all the classes your patience was endless, your kindness too so thank you. Anita Gore |

Vocations Prayer
Lord, make me a better person, More considerate towards others, More honest with myself, More faithful to you. Make me generous enough to want sincerely to do your will whatever it may be. Help me find my true vocation in life and grant that through it I may find happiness myself and bring happiness to others. Grant, Lord, that those whom you call to enter the priesthood, diaconate or religious life may have the generosity to answer your call, so that those who need your help may find it. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen |
